The seventh annual Tenerife Swimrun successfully concluded at Las Teresitas, featuring competitive races across multiple categories and a dedicated program to foster youth participation in the sport.

The seventh annual Tenerife Swimrun took place this weekend at Las Teresitas, further cementing the event as a key fixture in the island’s sporting calendar. Organized by DG Eventos, the Tenerife Island Council (via Ideco), and the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council, with support from Vithas Tenerife, the race highlighted the growing popularity of this sport, which combines open-water swimming with long-distance running.

The competition began at 1:30 p.m. on a technical course totaling 3,312 meters, consisting of 812 meters of swimming and 2,500 meters of running. Participants in the Open category completed two laps of the circuit, while those in the Sprint category completed four.

In the Sprint Solo category, Viktors Vovrusko won the men’s race, followed by Imanol Bertiere and Miguel Ángel González. María Isabel Allgaier took the top spot in the women’s category, with Alejandra Rodríguez and Ángeles Gordillo finishing second and third. In the Open Solo category, José Domingo Figueroa and Laura Estévez claimed overall victories. They were joined on the podium by Diego Dévora and Carlos Alberto Delgado for the men, and Elena Badea and Natalia Filatova for the women.

The team competitions also saw strong performances. In the Sprint Team category, Elena Hidalgo and Almudena Pomar won the women’s division, while Airam Peraza and Gorka Antona took the men’s. In the Open Team category, winners included Ana Herrera and María Castillo (women’s), Javi Hernández and Fabian Bethecourt (men’s), and Graciela Ruiz and Eduardo Balguerías (mixed).

Beyond the competition, the event emphasized the importance of grassroots sports. Santa Cruz Councilor for Sports, Alicia Cebrián, and Ideco CEO, Manolo Gómez, attended the day’s proceedings, which kicked off at 12:30 p.m. with the Tenerife Swimrun Kids. This program, designed for children aged 10 to 13, introduces younger athletes to the unique challenges of transitioning between swimming and running. This year’s edition also featured participation from youth and cadet categories, helping to foster the next generation of swimrun athletes.
