A serious accident has occurred in the south of Tenerife. On the TF-1, a major road on the island, a bus and a motorcycle have been involved in a serious crash. The motorcyclist is in serious condition after the crash.
According to 112 Canarias, Tenerife Firefighters, the Civil Guard, the Canarian Emergency Service, and Cabildo road crews are all working at the scene.
The crash has caused traffic jams stretching for several kilometers on the southbound lane of the highway, close to Granadilla de Abona. There are also delays on the lane heading towards Santa Cruz, due to what's known as the 'rubbernecking effect'.
Drivers traveling through the area in either direction are asked to be extremely careful and respect the current road conditions. This will help emergency services secure the scene and get things back to normal. The delays now stretch back to exit 49, which leads to Chimiche, El Río, and Las Maretas.
