Serious Crash on Tenerife’s TF-113 Reignites Road Safety Concerns
A 30-year-old man remains in intensive care following a serious single-vehicle crash on Tenerife’s TF-113 road that has prompted local authorities to investigate potential contributing factors and road safety measures.
Road safety on Tenerife’s secondary roads is back in the spotlight following a serious crash on the TF-113 in La Laguna. The accident, which occurred last Wednesday night near Jardina, highlights the risks of winding residential routes when vehicles leave the road.
The driver, a 30-year-old man, is currently in the intensive care unit at the Hospital Universitario Nuestra Señora de La Candelaria. After his car hit a private wall, emergency teams—including local firefighters and paramedics—stabilized him at the scene. He has since undergone surgery for severe injuries, particularly to one of his legs.
The La Laguna Local Police are investigating the crash. In addition to reconstructing the vehicle’s path, officers have requested standard toxicology tests to determine if alcohol or drugs were involved. These tests are routine in serious accidents to help establish if avoidable factors contributed to the collision.
The incident has reignited local debate over whether signage and safety barriers need to be improved on busy secondary roads. While no other vehicles or pedestrians were involved, the crash has left the driver in a serious condition.
