A serious accident closed the Southern Highway (TF-1) on Friday morning. The incident happened near the Las Chafiras industrial estate in San Miguel de Abona.
Civil Guard officers blocked traffic in the lanes heading towards Santiago del Teide. Traffic delays are expected to be even worse than the daily congestion at the entrances to Guaza, Oroteanda, and Las Chafiras.
The accident was a rear-end collision, with a dark Opel Astra ending up underneath a small van.
