Calm has returned to the coastal towns of Arico and Fasnia following the arrest of two robbery suspects and an increase in coordinated police patrols.

Calm has returned to the coastal towns of Las Eras and Los Roques after a recent wave of crime left residents in Arico and Fasnia on edge. Local reports indicate that criminal activity has stopped, a shift that municipal authorities attribute to the success of new security measures.

The turning point came when two suspects were intercepted at the South Airport. They were attempting to leave the island with jewelry and foreign currency, which investigators linked to the recent robberies in the area.

Olivia Delgado, Arico’s head of security, confirmed that the situation has stabilized thanks to close cooperation between the Local Police and the Civil Guard. However, she stressed that patrols will remain at an increased level to ensure the area stays safe.

Following these events, the local government has formally asked the Canary Islands government to increase the presence of the regional police force in the south. They are calling for the full deployment promised in a collaboration agreement signed over a year ago. The council argues that better coordination between authorities is essential to quickly tackle crime in areas where communities are spread far apart.
