Puerto de la Cruz will host the second DLibro festival from November 11 to 15, celebrating books and the publishing world with talks, activities, and guests including acclaimed writer Jorge Carrión.

Puerto de la Cruz is set to host the second DLibro festival from November 11 to 15. This cultural event celebrates books and the people who create them, inviting attendees to discover what goes into every published work and meet the professionals who bring the publishing world to life. The festival will take place at the Institute of Hispanic Studies of the Canary Islands (IEHC) and other venues across the city, turning Puerto de la Cruz into a hub for readers, curious minds, and lovers of written culture.

Under the theme "The festival of books and their things," DLibro aims to explore the entire world surrounding books. This includes everything from writing and translation to the work of bookstores, publishers, and other cultural groups. Over five days, the program will feature talks, educational activities, and events open to all audiences, celebrating reading as a shared and vibrant experience.

A highlight of this year's festival is writer and cultural critic Jorge Carrión, considered one of the most influential voices in contemporary Spanish literature. Carrión, known for works such as Librerías, Lo viral, Teleshakespeare, and Membrana, also directs the Master's in Literary Creation at UPF-BSM (Universitat Pompeu Fabra-Barcelona School of Management) and regularly contributes to national and international media.

On Friday the 14th at 8:00 PM, Carrión will participate in an interview discussing the current role of bookstores. He will converse with Matías Silva, a bookseller and editor from the Canary Islands, with cultural journalist Raquel Toste moderating the session.

DLibro will also welcome other guests, including Italian translator and educator Marilena de Chiara, who will join a discussion dedicated to literary translation. Writers Nicolás Melini, Blanca Riestra, and David Toscana will lead "The Craft of Writing" event, scheduled for Saturday the 15th. These activities will offer a diverse look at literary creation and transmission, showcasing the many voices and journeys within the literary landscape.

Designed as a literary festival for everyone, DLibro offers a journey into the heart of the book. It invites the public to discover how books are imagined, written, translated, sold, and, most importantly, how they are experienced.

This initiative is made possible thanks to the support of the Puerto de la Cruz City Council, the Government of the Canary Islands, and Librería Masilva, with collaboration from the Institute of Hispanic Studies of the Canary Islands and Colectivo Loba. For five days, Puerto de la Cruz will once again be a key literary spot on the Canarian map, celebrating books as a source of knowledge, imagination, and community.
