Santiago del Teide Launches 2026/2027 School Supply Subsidy Program

The Santiago del Teide local government has launched its annual financial aid program to help families cover the costs of the 2026/2027 school year. The council aims to ease the financial pressure of buying textbooks and essential supplies for students in preschool, primary, and secondary education.

This initiative is part of a broader effort by Canary Island municipalities to support families during the expensive back-to-school season, which often strains household budgets. To ensure fair access to educational materials, the council has set a strict application deadline of July 13.

To qualify for the subsidy, applicants must meet specific residency, school, and income requirements:

• Residency: You must have lived in the municipality for at least six months.
• Schooling: Students must attend public schools within the town, though exceptions may be made for those using school transport routes in neighboring areas.
• Income: Eligibility depends on the family’s per capita income, which must fall within the limits set by the current IPREM (Public Multiple Effects Income Indicator).
