Concerns about pedestrian safety, especially in places like Carretera España in Santa Úrsula, have resurfaced after two people, including an 80-year-old man, were injured in an accident.
Emergency services reported that the incident happened last Saturday, February 21, 2026, when a vehicle struck both individuals.
The 112 emergency call center received the alert at 6:04 PM and quickly sent help. This included a medical ambulance and a basic life support ambulance from the Canarian Emergency Service (SUC), along with officers from the Civil Guard and Local Police.
Paramedics treated a woman for various moderate injuries before she was taken to the University Hospital of the Canary Islands (HUC). An 80-year-old man, who also had several moderate bruises, was taken to Hospiten Bellevue.
Police have started an investigation to find out exactly how the accident happened. This is standard procedure to determine who was responsible and help prevent similar incidents in the future.
