The Santa Úrsula government demands that the Tenerife administration correct the road signs on the TF-5 highway, which mistakenly indicate that the Cuesta La Villa area belongs to La Orotava.

In Santa Úrsula, there is dissatisfaction with the signs on the Northern Highway. Local authorities have asked the Cabildo (administration) of Tenerife to correct four signs on the TF-5 highway. The People's Party brought this request to the municipality.

Darío Mesa, a member of parliament from this party, wrote on social media that the signs at the 31st exit from the Northern Highway in both directions need to be changed.

He explained that the four blue signs mistakenly indicate that Cuesta-La Villa is a district of Orotava. Although, in fact, La Orotava is much further away.

According to Mesa, these signs have been incorrect for a long time, and local authorities have repeatedly asked for them to be corrected, starting in 2023. But since this is the responsibility of the Cabildo of Tenerife, he urges them to make the changes.

"People are used to this mistake, but it shouldn't be this way. Of course, La Orotava can be reached from Santa Úrsula, but Cuesta-La Villa is part of our municipality," says the MP.

Juan Acosta, the mayor of Santa Úrsula, recalled that the request to the Cabildo was sent at the beginning of his term. "These signs have been there for over 50 years, and we want them to be corrected in both directions. The correct name should be there," he stressed.

Acosta added that the 3,500 residents of Cuesta-La Villa already know where they live. He believes it is more important for the Cabildo to repair road 217, make markings, or build a roundabout, as more than 35,000 cars pass through this area every day. Also, according to him, there is a lack of parking spaces there.

"We have not forgotten about the signs at the 31st exit from the TF-5, but we decided to deal with more important things first," the mayor explained. He also added that he does not want to quarrel with La Orotava, because "we all know where each municipality is."
