The dividers on El Pilar and Villalba Hervás streets in Santa Cruz de Tenerife will not be turned around.
In Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the dividers on El Pilar and Villalba Hervás streets will not be restored due to legal proceedings regarding the bicycle network, but they will be returned to Méndez Núñez street for safety reasons.
In the capital of Tenerife, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the dividers on El Pilar and Villalba Hervás streets will not be reinstalled. This was announced by the city council on Friday. However, they will be restored on Méndez Núñez street because it is important for safety.
The city council explained that it will change the traffic organization on El Pilar and Villalba Hervás streets. This decision was made because the court rejected the city council's appeal regarding the construction of the bicycle network.
At the meeting, it was decided that the bicycle lane dividers on these two streets would not be installed after the celebration of the Virgin of Candelaria, as previously planned.
The mayor of the city, José Manuel Bermúdez, held a meeting attended by advisors on public services, transport, and the central district, as well as lawyers and representatives of other services.
The city council reminded that the construction of the bicycle network in Santa Cruz is currently suspended due to a court decision. Lawyers are studying the situation. Therefore, on Méndez Núñez street, where the bicycle lane is not completed and cannot be used, the absence of dividers "creates a danger on the road."
The city council plans to hold meetings to agree on changes in the traffic organization on these two streets. Lawyers will determine what to do next with the situation surrounding the bicycle network.
The city council also reminds everyone to follow traffic rules, respect signs, and that violators will be fined.
