Santa Cruz to Implement Exclusive Bus Lane to Las Teresitas Beach This Weekend
Santa Cruz de Tenerife is implementing an exclusive bus lane and increasing public transport capacity this weekend to manage anticipated traffic congestion at Las Teresitas beach.
The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council is introducing an exclusive bus lane for traffic heading to Las Teresitas beach this weekend. The Department of Mobility and Universal Accessibility is implementing the measure to manage expected traffic congestion caused by the high temperatures forecast for the island.
The bus lane will be in effect this Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. It will run from the Dársena Pesquera roundabout to the end of the San Andrés Maritime Avenue along the TF-11 highway. To handle the expected increase in beachgoers, the city is adding articulated buses to the 910 line, which runs between the city center, San Andrés, and the beach.
This strategy, which was successfully tested in early August, aims to improve traffic flow and road safety for residents of Anaga and San Andrés during periods of heavy traffic.
The city council is advising drivers who choose to use private cars to check the digital information panels located throughout the city. These signs provide real-time updates on parking availability at the beach, helping drivers avoid unnecessary trips to the area when it is already at capacity.
