Santa Cruz to Host "Vive La Rosa 2" Event to Boost Local Commerce
Santa Cruz de Tenerife will host the "Vive La Rosa 2" event this Saturday to revitalize local commerce through cultural activities, shopping incentives, and street improvements.
La Rosa Street in Santa Cruz de Tenerife is set to host "Vive La Rosa 2" this Saturday, October 10, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This initiative aims to boost local business following the street's recent renovation.
The project is backed by the Canary Islands Government’s General Directorate of Commerce and Consumption and involves a partnership between the Santa Cruz City Council, the Development Society, the Federation of Urban Areas of the Canary Islands (FAUCA), and the Zona Centro Business Association. To encourage shopping, customers who make purchases at participating stores will receive a voucher for a free coffee, redeemable at JR Roasters (located at 12 La Rosa Street) until October 31. Organizers have not yet specified the minimum purchase amount required to qualify.
The event also features a cultural program, including roving theater performances by the company Arte Facto from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. To make the area more inviting, the street will be decorated with vertical gardens, photo spots, and updated street furniture. Local shops will also display vinyl window decals featuring messages of resilience and renewal.
This event follows a similar recreational and sporting day held on September 12. As online shopping grows, cities across Spain are increasingly focusing on "experiential retail"—transforming shopping districts into social hubs to encourage foot traffic and revitalize historic centers. By blending cultural activities with shopping incentives, authorities hope to establish La Rosa Street as a vibrant destination for both residents and visitors.
