Santa Cruz to Begin Nighttime Resurfacing on Avenida San Sebastián Next Monday
Santa Cruz de Tenerife will begin night-time road resurfacing on Avenida San Sebastián next Monday, causing temporary diversions for 13 Titsa bus lines as part of the city's "Impulso Urbano" infrastructure project.
Starting next Monday, traffic in Santa Cruz de Tenerife will undergo significant changes as road resurfacing begins on Avenida San Sebastián. Part of the city’s "Impulso Urbano" (Urban Impulse) project, this work aims to repair the heavily worn road surface in the Salud-La Salle district.
The project, which has a budget of 249,595 euros, covers over 54,000 square meters and requires more than 900 tons of asphalt. To minimize disruption, crews will work only at night, between 8:00 PM and 6:00 AM, for the duration of the one-week project.
The construction will affect 13 Titsa bus lines (014, 026, 228, 232, 901, 908, 934, 936, 937, 971, 972, 974, and 975). Most buses will be diverted from Avenida de Bélgica to travel via Avenidas Reyes Católicos, Benito Pérez Armas, and Tres de Mayo. Line 908 will follow a slightly different route, heading directly from Benito Pérez Armas toward Tres de Mayo.
The work will be completed in two phases, starting with the section between Avenida Reyes Católicos and Calle Gumersindo Robayna Galván. Local police will manage traffic detours, and the city has confirmed that all construction waste will be handled according to strict environmental standards. While the project will cause temporary inconvenience, the city council notes that these repairs are essential for improving road safety and long-term infrastructure durability.
