Gesplan is looking for veterinarians to care for stray cats in Santa Cruz, allocating almost 130,000 euros for sterilization, treatment, and animal registration.

Gesplan, the company responsible for cat colonies in Santa Cruz until 2029, is looking for veterinarians. They have announced a tender to find doctors to care for stray cats, as they do not have all the necessary resources to do so themselves.

Gesplan plans to spend almost 130,000 euros from the municipal budget of 1.48 million euros on this. The goal is to protect the cats in the city, care for them, count them, and treat them. Special attention will be paid to the CER program – which involves sterilizing/neutering cats, vaccinating them, and returning them to the streets.

Currently, documents are being processed for 83 cat colonies in the city. However, 28 colonies have been rejected because they are located near nature reserves.

In total, almost 2,000 cats live in the colonies. Therefore, something needs to be done urgently to prevent their numbers from increasing, to improve their living conditions, and to reduce their impact on the environment.

To be awarded this contract, the veterinary clinic must be located in Santa Cruz, be licensed, and operate from Monday to Sunday.

Applications can be submitted until the 21st of this month. The winner will be the one who offers the lowest price.

The contract will be concluded for 45 months (almost 4 years). Most of the money will go to sterilizing cats – 15,000 euros (125 operations at 120 euros each). Only 525 euros have been allocated for neutering male cats (15 operations).

The list of services includes diagnostics, surgeries, inpatient treatment, consultations, anesthesia, X-rays, ultrasounds, and tests. If something needs to be done that is not on the list, it will need to be agreed upon with Gesplan.
