Santa Cruz is expanding its consumer voucher program to support local businesses, allowing them to be used in any district of the city and increasing the limit for shops on La Rosa Street.

In Santa Cruz, local businesses will receive a new boost thanks to consumer vouchers! The fifth phase of the program started in June, and 26,500 vouchers worth 25 euros each were sold. The promotion will last until November 16, but it was decided to add even more opportunities at the finish line.

The mayor of the city, José Manuel Bermúdez, said that now it will be possible to use vouchers in any area of the city, and not only where they were purchased. In addition, 654 remaining vouchers have gone on sale, and they can also be used anywhere. And for shops on La Rosa Street, where repairs are currently underway, the limit on the amount that can be received for these vouchers has been increased from 6,000 to 8,000 euros.

Carmen Pérez, who heads the local development agency, added that the program has been very successful, so it was decided to expand it even further so that both residents and entrepreneurs can benefit from it. She also announced that the website www.bonoconsumosantacruz.com will be temporarily unavailable today to calculate unsold vouchers and make changes. But everything will work in a new way tomorrow from 12:00.

Pérez is confident that these changes will further support the local economy. And she reminded that stores that have not yet joined the program can do so and get additional customers.

At the moment, 85.43% of the vouchers sold have already been used in Santa Cruz - this is more than 550,000 euros! According to the advisor, this money immediately went to support local businesses.

Pérez also noted that 93.73% of the stores participating in the program have already been paid with at least one voucher. This means that 299 out of 319 enterprises have benefited from this initiative. Vouchers were most actively used in the South-West region (95.82%), as well as in Salud-La Salle (90.31%) and Centro-Ifara (87.98%). In Anaga, 69.74% of vouchers were used, and on La Rosa Street - 67.70%.

The city hall emphasized that 60 stores have already reached the maximum sales limit under this program. 47 enterprises received 4,000 euros each, and 13 out of 18 participants from La Rosa Street - 6,000 euros each.

Purificación Dávila, advisor of the Centro-Ifara district, noted that the city hall supports this program and has allocated 500,000 euros for it. She believes that this is an effective way to help both local businesses and residents of the city. And increasing the limit for shops on La Rosa Street is great news, because it will help businesses that are currently going through hard times due to repairs. The mayor added that the repairs are planned to be completed in the first quarter of 2026.

The President of Fauca, Abbas Muhir, also supported this initiative, as it helps small businesses and stimulates the local economy.

In addition, shops in the city center will once again benefit from special consumer vouchers as part of the "Hello, Sunday" initiative, which starts on the 17th. Carmen Pérez said that last year this promotion was launched as a pilot project to support economic activity in the tourist area, and this year it will be resumed with more vouchers.

Regarding the expansion of the tourist area so that large stores can operate every Sunday, Mayor José Manuel Bermúdez said that this issue will be discussed in October. But if the Zona Centro and Fauca associations do not agree with the large stores, the expansion will not take place.
