Santa Cruz City Council approved a €1.3 million renovation of the Miguel Pintor school swimming pool, which will be open to the public during non-school hours, as part of a broader city plan to improve sports facilities.

Santa Cruz City Council has given the go-ahead for a big upgrade to the swimming pool at the Miguel Pintor school in the La Alegría neighborhood. The best part? It will be open to the public when school's out.

The project will cost €1.3 million and take about 10 months to complete. The work includes fixing up the engine room, updating the air conditioning, repairing the pool itself, improving the area around the pool, and building new changing rooms.

Everything needed to get the job done right is included, like a detailed report, measurements, a budget, plans for waste disposal, safety measures, material choices, blueprints, and expert supervision.

Mayor José Manuel Bermúdez said, "This isn't just for the school; it's for the whole city. Opening the pool to the public after school hours will give people in the area more options for sports and recreation, which is something we really need."

Alicia Cebrián, the Councilor for Sports, also mentioned that this project is part of a larger plan to improve sports facilities in the city, including a major renovation of the Acidalio Lorenzo municipal swimming pool, for which they are seeking financial support.
