
Santa Cruz Police Save 14-Month-Old After Cardiorespiratory Arrest
Police officers in Santa Cruz de Tenerife saved a 14-month-old baby’s life by performing emergency CPR after she suffered a sudden cardiorespiratory arrest.
A 14-month-old baby is recovering after local police in Santa Cruz de Tenerife saved her life following a sudden cardiorespiratory arrest on Thursday afternoon.
The incident occurred shortly after 5:30 p.m. at a business in the Los Alisios neighborhood. When officers arrived at the scene, they found the infant in critical condition. One officer immediately performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), successfully reviving the child before emergency services could take over.
Following a coordinated emergency plan, the officers rushed the baby and her parents to the Añaza health center, having alerted the medical staff in advance. After being stabilized, the infant was transferred to the Nuestra Señora de La Candelaria University Hospital. Police escorted the ambulance to ensure the child reached the pediatric emergency department as quickly as possible, where she remains under care.
The incident highlights the vital importance of first-aid training for local police, who are often the first to arrive during medical emergencies. The child’s family has expressed their deep gratitude to the officers for their quick thinking and dedication.
