Santa Cruz Police Disrupt Park Break-in, Arrest Suspect, Seize Drugs
Police in Santa Cruz de Tenerife arrested one person on an outstanding warrant, found drugs and a knife, and discovered two underage girls after responding to a report of individuals breaking into Las Mesas Park after hours.
Last night, police in Santa Cruz de Tenerife responded to a call about people breaking into Las Mesas Park. The emergency services (CECOES-112 Canarias) reported that several individuals had climbed over the park fences and arrived in three cars.
Four police units, including officers and a K9 team, went to the park and confirmed the report. They identified the people there, and one person, P.A.C.A., was arrested because a court in Madrid had issued a warrant for their arrest.
During the operation, officers found a large knife on one person and various drugs, which the K9 unit helped to detect. They also found two underage girls. The police had to contact the parent of one of the girls.
When police arrived, they saw a car parked at the park entrance with no driver, but two passengers inside. This car was reported, and a tow truck was called to remove it. One of the passengers in this car had the knife and some hashish, and reports were filed for these findings. Inside the park, officers found two more cars. One of them didn't have mandatory car insurance, so it was also towed away.
Police asked everyone to get out of the vehicles and then identified and searched them. This led to the discovery of one minor, whose mother was called to pick her up. The other minor was with a relative. The arrested person was taken to the police station, all necessary paperwork was completed, and the park was cleared and closed again.
It's important to remember that Las Mesas Park is open to the public from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM between April and October. From November to March, it's open from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Being in the park outside these hours could result in a fine.
