Santa Cruz Police Arrest Man Following Drug Seizure in Traffic Stop
Santa Cruz de Tenerife police arrested a 49-year-old man after discovering hashish, marijuana, and pharmaceutical drugs in his vehicle during a targeted anti-drug operation.
Santa Cruz de Tenerife police arrested a 49-year-old man, identified as J.A.C.C., last Wednesday night after discovering drugs in his car near Calle Salamanca. The arrest is part of a broader effort to improve public safety following complaints from local residents and business owners about drug and alcohol-related anti-social behavior in the area.
Officers stopped the man’s white Seat Ibiza around 9:00 p.m. as part of a planned traffic control operation. During the stop, a police dog alerted officers to a backpack inside the vehicle. A search revealed 99 grams of hashish, along with marijuana and various pharmaceutical drugs.
The driver admitted the items belonged to him and was taken into custody to face legal proceedings. His vehicle was towed to an impound lot.
The police have increased these joint operations—which combine traffic units with canine support—to crack down on small-scale drug dealing and address neighborhood concerns. Residents are encouraged to report any incidents to the police by calling 092.
