Do you love music? Then head to Los Lavaderos, where the "Lavaderos Live Music" cycle will take place. This time, Telúrica Free Experience will perform. And at TEA Espacio de las Artes, young children can take part in an optical art workshop. There will also be film screenings, including the classic film "Dog Day Afternoon" and the new drama "In Water".
Folk festivals will also be celebrated! There will be celebrations in Taganana, the Salamanca district will celebrate the Bolivian festival of the Virgin of Urkupiña, and there will also be a festival in Roque Negro. The summer program for children will continue, teaching them how to create video games. And for the whole family, there will be an interesting storytelling session at the library.
"Lavaderos Live Music" invites you to a performance by Telúrica Free Experience on Thursday at 8:30 PM. This is a unique project where music, dance, poetry, and theater intertwine to create something special. The performers will be Italian Federica Farace (actress, singer, dancer) and Canarians Rubén Díaz (guitarist, composer, journalist) and Antonio Lorenzo (violinist).
TEA Espacio de las Artes will host "Mini Painting Day with Relief and Trick" on Thursday. The inspiration will be Eduardo Gregorio's work "Kinetic Construction". Children will be shown how to create visual illusions using colors and shapes. They will use wooden details to create something of their own. Colors, light, shapes, and creativity will help them discover the world of optical art. It starts at 4:30 PM and lasts until 7:30 PM.
On Thursday at 7:00 PM, TEA will screen Sidney Lumet's film "Dog Day Afternoon". This is the story of a bank robbery that turned into a social protest. Starring Al Pacino and John Cazale. Admission is free, but seating is limited. The film will be shown in its original language with Spanish subtitles. It is a classic of American cinema from the 70s.
And from Friday to Sunday (August 15-17) at 7:00 PM, TEA will screen the film "In Water" (2024) by South Korean director Hong Sang-soo. This is the story of an actor and director who has been invited to stage a play at a university festival. Starring Kim Min-hee. The film is about relationships between people, the search for meaning in life, and beauty in simple things. The film is in Korean with Spanish subtitles. Not recommended for children under 12.
Folk festivals are taking place in Taganana from July 18 to August 16. There will be a folk party on Thursday, a procession and fireworks on Friday, and a traditional village tour with musicians on Saturday. Due to the heat, some events have been postponed, but they will be resumed these days.
The Bolivian community in the Salamanca district is celebrating the Day of the Virgin of Urkupiña. On Friday at 6:00 PM there will be a mass, followed by folk dances in Francisco Hernández Barroso Square. The main events will take place on Saturday. At 11:00 AM there will be a mass, followed by a procession with the image of the Virgin of Urkupiña through the streets of Salamanca. From 2:00 PM, the celebration will move to the square near the Fatima Church, where 350 dancers will perform a grand show.
In Roque Negro, the Washerwomen's Festival will be celebrated on Friday, August 15. It starts at 11:00 AM. And in the afternoon, from 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM, there will be a folk festival. Both events will take place in Roque Negro Square.
A video game design workshop will be held on Thursday at the Mascareño Youth Center. It starts at 5:00 PM. Participants will learn how to create characters, levels, and game mechanics. This will help develop logical thinking, creativity, and teamwork skills.
A "Tales in the Family" meeting will be held on Thursday at the Central Municipal Library. Fidel Galbán will tell "Tales of My Islands". There will be traditional tales, original stories, music, and songs. Fidel Galbán uses objects and puppets to make the meeting even more interesting for children and their parents. It starts at 5:00 PM.
