Santa Cruz Opens Registration for 55th Nativity Scene Contest

Santa Cruz de Tenerife's City Council has opened registration for its 55th Nativity Scene Contest, inviting residents, businesses, and schools to showcase their creations for public viewing and prizes until November 26.

Setting up the nativity scene is a cherished Christmas tradition for many families. Some of these displays are truly beautiful, and residents of Santa Cruz de Tenerife who are proud of their creations have a chance to show them off.

The Santa Cruz City Council, through its Fiestas de Santa Cruz department, has opened registration for its 55th Nativity Scene Contest. Mayor José Manuel Bermúdez noted that this competition is a long-standing Christmas tradition in Santa Cruz, always impressing with its creativity and the large number of participants.

Javier Caraballero, the Councillor for Festivities, added that the city is putting the finishing touches on a Christmas program for everyone, aiming to bring joy to every part of Santa Cruz and strengthen its reputation as a top destination during the festive season.

Those interested can register until November 26. The application form is available on the City Council's official website (Trámite – Sede). Applications must be submitted through the Fiestas de Santa Cruz registration system. Businesses and organizations must apply online, while individuals have the option to apply either online or in person.

For in-person registration or inquiries, the Fiestas de Santa Cruz office is located at Antonio Domínguez Alfonso street (La Noria) nº7, open from 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM. More information can also be found on the municipal websites: www.santacruzdetenerife.es and www.fiestasdesantacruz.com.

The contest features four categories:

  • Category A: Nativity scenes displayed outdoors, or in neighborhood and cultural associations.
  • Category B: Nativity scenes in churches, NGO offices, other non-profit organizations, businesses, and shop windows.
  • Category C: Nativity scenes set up in private homes.
  • Category D: Nativity scenes created in Infant and Primary schools.

Prizes for winners include commemorative plaques and cash awards ranging from 90 to 360 euros. All participating nativity scenes will be open for public viewing from December 10 to January 6.
