Santa Cruz Music School Unveils 25th Anniversary Program
The Municipal School of Music in Santa Cruz de Tenerife launched a commemorative program of concerts, auditions, and collaborations to celebrate its 25th anniversary, featuring a special concert with 200 students at the Tenerife Auditorium.
The Municipal School of Music in Santa Cruz de Tenerife is celebrating 25 years of dedicated work in music education and culture. To mark this special occasion, the Autonomous Culture Body (OAC) presented its commemorative program this Monday. The program will feature concerts, auditions, and collaborations with other educational and music centers.
The school, which now has 615 students, started in its first location at Viera y Clavijo Park with 132 students and six areas of study. Today, its educational offerings include 'Music and Movement' for children aged four to seven, along with nine instrumental specializations: Clarinet, Flute, Guitar, Piano, Saxophone, Trumpet, Violin, Cello, and Percussion.
Key figures present at the launch of the activity schedule included the mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez; the Councilor for Culture, Santiago Díaz Mejías; the Councilor for Culture and Museums of the Cabildo de Tenerife, José Carlos Acha; and Victoria Fariña and Flory Díaz, who were instrumental in establishing the center and are part of its staff.
Amanda Arteaga, the director of the Municipal School of Music, presented the program's details. A key event is the 25th Anniversary Celebration Concert, scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday, at 6:00 p.m. in the Chamber Hall of the Tenerife Auditorium. This concert will take 200 students on a journey through the history of this music education initiative.
Other musical events are planned for the anniversary, giving the public a chance to enjoy the students' talents. These include the Christmas Concert, which will be held outside the school, creating a festive and cozy atmosphere for families. The traditional St. Patrick's Concert will also take place, offering another opportunity to share music with the community and highlight the work of the school's various groups and specializations.
A further highlight is the Santa Cruz Suena Festival, set to take place in García Sanabria Park. This event will bring together the school's orchestras, bands, chamber groups, and pianists, and will also feature collaborations with other institutions, such as the Güímar School of Music and the Fernando Estévez Higher School of Art and Design. Around 400 students are expected to participate.
The celebrations will conclude with the End-of-Course Concert, an event that will also showcase the work carried out during the academic year.
