Santa Cruz Museum to Host Neuroscience of Art Discussion
Santa Cruz de Tenerife's Museum of Fine Arts will host a free discussion this Thursday at 7:00 PM, "When Art Seduces the Mind: Neuroscience in the Museum," exploring the mental and emotional processes of art with neuroscientist Fernando Giráldez and art historian Ana Quesada.
The Museum of Fine Arts of Santa Cruz de Tenerife will host a special discussion this Thursday at 7:00 PM. Titled "When Art Seduces the Mind: Neuroscience in the Museum," this event is organized by the Biovance Foundation, which focuses on sharing science and culture. It aims to spark an open conversation about the mental and emotional processes involved in creating and experiencing art.
The discussion will feature neuroscientist Fernando Giráldez, a Doctor of Medicine and emeritus professor from Pompeu Fabra University, known for his book "A Neuroscientist in the Prado Museum" (Paidós, 2025). He will be joined by art historian Ana Quesada, a professor at the University of La Laguna, and journalist and cultural communicator Raquel Toste, who will lead the event.
Mayor José Manuel Bermúdez commented that such activities "enhance the museum's role as a place for ideas and sharing knowledge. Santa Cruz is dedicated to making culture accessible, inclusive, and connected to the community."
Entry to the event is free, but space is limited. It is particularly aimed at university students, professionals in culture and education, media, science communicators, and indeed, anyone interested in the topic.
