Santa Cruz Line 902 Last Bus Extended to 10:30 PM
Santa Cruz's Line 902 will extend its last weekday bus service to 10:30 PM for Barrio Nuevo and Cueva Roja residents starting January 26, improving public transport accessibility.
Good news for residents of Barrio Nuevo and Cueva Roja! Starting Monday, January 26, the last bus on Santa Cruz's Line 902 will run later on weekdays, until 10:30 PM. This change, announced by the Santa Cruz City Council's Mobility department (led by Evelyn Alonso) and the Centro-Ifara district (headed by Purificación Dávila), aims to better match the bus schedule with people's work hours. Line 902 connects the Intercambiador (the main transport hub) with these two neighborhoods.
Santa Cruz Mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez, highlighted this as "another example of our commitment to residents to make public transport easier to use." He added that it fits with the city's focus on sustainable transport, which has included investing in new buses, routes, and more frequent services during his time in office.
Evelyn Alonso, the Mobility councilor, explained that they "made an effort to adjust the schedules" to extend this service. She noted that the last bus from the Santa Cruz Intercambiador currently leaves at 9:40 PM. "So, from Monday, January 26, the final departure from the Intercambiador towards Barrio Nuevo and Cueva Roja will be at 10:30 PM, a precise adjustment to the previous times," she confirmed.
Purificación Dávila added that this change "fulfills a commitment made to residents." By delaying one of the three weekday buses on Line 902, she believes they are "partially meeting a significant demand from people living in these two areas." Dávila also mentioned their hope to extend this later service to Saturdays and Sundays, noting that currently, two buses run to these destinations from the Santa Cruz Intercambiador on weekends.
