The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council has launched the third edition of "Commerce Day" in the Ofra-Costa Sur district, featuring a loyalty campaign and community events designed to boost local small businesses.

The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council is working to boost the local economy and help small businesses compete with large retailers and online shopping. As part of the "Enjoy the Districts" program, the city’s Development Society has launched the third edition of "Commerce Day" in the Ofra-Costa Sur district.

To encourage local spending, a loyalty campaign will run from October 26 to November 13. Customers who spend at least five euros at participating shops and restaurants will be entered into a raffle to win one of 30 vouchers worth 50 euros each. These vouchers can then be spent at the same local businesses, a strategy designed to keep money circulating within the neighborhood and support small business owners.

Carmen Pérez, First Deputy Mayor and head of the Development Society, emphasized that local shops are essential for building community and creating stable jobs. Business owners who wish to participate must register by 2:00 p.m. on November 3 by emailing info@marchago.com.

The initiative will conclude on November 14 with a family-friendly event, turning public spaces into a hub to showcase what the district has to offer. This effort reflects a growing trend among Spanish cities to revitalize traditional shopping areas by combining economic incentives with community-focused events, highlighting the vital role local entrepreneurs play in neighborhood life.
