The government of Santa Cruz has allocated one million euros for summer repairs to eight schools, including renovations to facades, playgrounds, and interiors.

This summer, Santa Cruz has undertaken the renovation of schools! The city authorities have allocated one million euros for repairs in eight out of 36 schools. This was announced by the mayor of the city, José Manuel Bermúdez, during a visit to the Chimisay school.

"We are trying to keep our schools in good condition," says Bermúdez. "Therefore, we use the summer to do everything necessary while the children are not studying. In Chimisay, for example, the facade is currently being renovated, the walls are being painted, and new blinds are being installed. This cost 314,000 euros."

According to the mayor, similar works are being carried out in other schools, such as Los Verodes and Santa Cruz de California, where playgrounds are being repaired.

"We have a special contract for the maintenance of schools," explains Bermúdez. "Thanks to this, we can invest about 20 million euros over four years to quickly respond to any problems."

Javier Rivero, advisor on construction issues, added that in the first half of the year, 724,000 euros have already been spent on repairs to improve waterproofing and make classrooms more comfortable.

"We have restored facades in the Tomé Cano and Gaviño del Bosque schools, improved the area near the San Fernando school, repaired the toilet in Los Dragos and the wall near the Gesta 25 de Julio school. We also painted classrooms and the courtyard in Las Delicias, replaced windows in Tagoror, and painted classrooms in Bethencourt y Molina. And that's not all! The main thing is that all works will be completed before the start of the school year," Rivero summarized.
