Santa Cruz Invests €900K in AI-Powered Tourism Upgrade
Santa Cruz invests nearly €900,000 in a new AI-powered "Destination Tourism Intelligence System" to personalize visitor experiences and boost sustainable tourism.
Santa Cruz is upgrading its tourism with a new "Destination Tourism Intelligence System." This system will use digital information and technology, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), to give tourists a more personalized experience.
The city council has invested almost 900,000 euros in the project. This money will go towards developing the technology and improving the Tourist Office in the Palacio de Carta. The investment is part of the city's plan to make tourism more sustainable, funded by the European Union.
Mayor José Manuel Bermúdez said the goal is to "improve tourism with innovation and sustainability, offering visitors quality digital experiences that promote our city and its heritage."
Carlos Tarife, the city councilor for Public Services, added that the project will "digitally transform the local tourism sector, using smart systems to improve information and services for visitors." This will help Santa Cruz compete with other top destinations.
The first part of the project, which involves creating the tourism intelligence system and providing digital content, has been awarded to Urban Digital for 469,639 euros, plus an additional 119,696 euros for support and maintenance.
This system will help tourists plan their trips to Santa Cruz and provide information through various channels. Once they arrive, it will suggest activities, routes, and points of interest, and even gather feedback after their visit.
The city's tourist offices will also become more digital, offering personalized advice and showcasing the city's attractions using AI. This will create a more engaging and tailored experience for visitors.
The second part of the project focuses on upgrading the Tourist Office in the Palacio de Carta with digital and immersive experiences. This has been awarded to Innoarea Projects for 288,472 euros, plus 20,865 euros for support and maintenance.
The aim is to modernize the Palacio de Carta, attract more tourists, and make it a key attraction in the city. This will be achieved by using innovative technologies to enhance the tourist experience while respecting the building's cultural significance.
