Santa Cruz de Tenerife has increased the budget by 43,690 euros and extended the construction timeline by six weeks to address technical oversights in a traffic improvement project near the Meridiano Shopping Center.

Santa Cruz de Tenerife’s city government is updating its plan to improve traffic flow around the Meridiano Shopping Center. The changes aim to fix issues discovered while work was already underway at the intersection of Áurea Díaz Flores Hernández and Álvaro Rodríguez López streets.

This update adds 43,690 euros to the original budget and extends the construction timeline by six weeks. The extra time and funding will allow the city to include technical elements that were missing from the initial design, ensuring the project fully addresses the needs of one of the city’s busiest areas for pedestrians and drivers.

Once the final paperwork is complete, the city will sign an agreement with the contractor, Asfaltos Jaén. Javier Rivero, the head of the Works department, explained that these changes are necessary to ensure the renovation is effective and to prevent the need for future repairs at this critical junction. Such adjustments are common in public construction projects, allowing the city to adapt to unexpected site conditions while staying within legal procurement guidelines.
