Santa Cruz Implements Emergency Traffic Measures for Las Teresitas Beach Access
Santa Cruz de Tenerife has implemented a dedicated bus lane on the TF-11 highway this weekend to manage heavy traffic congestion caused by beachgoers during the current heatwave.
High temperatures in Santa Cruz de Tenerife this weekend have put a strain on local traffic, forcing authorities to step in to manage the flow of vehicles heading to the coast. To keep public transport running smoothly as crowds flock to Las Teresitas beach, the City Council has introduced special measures on the TF-11 highway.
Coordinated by the local emergency center, Cecopal, the plan includes a dedicated bus lane between the Dársena Pesquera roundabout and the town of San Andrés. This restriction will be in place this Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. to help ease the heavy congestion caused by the surge in private cars during the current heatwave.
The situation highlights the ongoing challenge of managing access to the beach during peak summer days. With heavy traffic building up early in the morning, the city is urging residents to use public buses instead of private cars to prevent gridlock and keep the roads moving.
