Santa Cruz Hosts Carnival 2026 Choreography Contest

Nineteen dance groups featuring over 1,000 dancers will compete for Carnival 2026's Choreographic Groups competition this Sunday, the 25th, at 5:00 PM at the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Exhibition Center, vying for prizes in best costume and performance.

This Sunday, the 25th, at 5:00 PM, the Choreographic Groups competition for Carnival 2026 will take place at the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Exhibition Center. Nineteen dance groups are set to perform, appearing in an order decided by a draw held last November. These groups are Ballet Dance, V Dance, Onys, Beanky, Crew of Dreams, Ibaute, LS Tribu, Odali, C.D. Andreína Acosta, La Vica, Loli Pérez, Moana, Crazy Dancer, Wild Dance, Wonder, Star Dance, Yu-Funk, LKS Dance, and Patronato de Arona.

Over 1,000 dancers will participate, showcasing the routines they've spent months preparing. They will also display their impressive costumes, specially designed for this year's carnival.

After the performances, prizes will be awarded for best costume and best performance, including an honorable mention, third, second, and first place. The costume jury includes Rebeca Skog, a fine arts graduate, educator, and visual artist; Nauzet Salazar Cortés, a Carnival costume designer and artistic director; and Ami Rodríguez, a seamstress and designer.

Judging the performances will be Genaro Arteaga, a dance professor and choreographer; Casandra Hernández Rodríguez, a dancer, choreographer, dance fitness instructor, and dance teacher; Patricia Dávila, an urban and Latin dance choreographer; Elide Fabbretti, a dance professor, dancer, and choreographer at Evolución Ballet Dance School; and Andrea Arruti Aramburu, director of the 9/11 Dance School.
