Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council has fined CF Santa María Alisios €3,000 for illegally selling alcohol at its canteen on municipal grounds, violating public sports facility regulations and national laws.
Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council has fined a local football club, CF Santa María Alisios, 3,000 euros for selling alcohol at its canteen. The club uses the municipal field of Santa María del Mar for its matches.
The decision was made after Local Police reported the unauthorized sale of alcohol at the field. This is not allowed under the terms of the agreement for using the public sports facilities.
The club has been notified and has 15 days to provide any evidence or arguments it wishes to present.
After reviewing the club's response and relevant reports, the Sports Department will issue a final decision.
Selling alcohol at football grounds is against the rules for using public land for sports. It also breaks national laws, including Law 19/2007, which aims to prevent racism, xenophobia, and intolerance in sport. This law states that people cannot enter sports venues under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and their attendance can be conditional on not consuming alcohol.
Additionally, Royal Decree 203/2010 also prohibits the sale and bringing of any alcoholic beverages into sports venues.
