A campaign to support children's mental health has been launched in Tenerife.
The campaign "Feel Their Emotions and Needs" has been launched in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, aimed at raising awareness of the mental health of children and adolescents, implemented within the framework of the "City Participation Budget".
An important initiative has been launched in the city of Santa Cruz de Tenerife – a campaign to raise awareness of the mental health of children and adolescents. The mayor of the city, José Manuel Bermúdez, emphasized that this idea won the vote for the city's "Participatory Budget" program for 2023-2024.
The campaign is running under the slogan "Feel Their Emotions and Needs." Its goal is to make people understand how important it is to take care of children's mental health from an early age. This will help create a more responsive and healthy society. The symbol of the campaign is the five senses, which help us better understand each other. Special attention is paid to families and schools.
The mayor stressed that children are our future, so taking care of their emotional state is an investment in a happy and healthy society. The city authorities support programs that help children grow up in an atmosphere of trust and respect.
The Councilor for Citizen Participation, Javier Caraballero, noted that this campaign is a great example of how the "Participatory Budget" helps to change lives for the better. Thanks to this program, everyone could propose their idea, and it was the residents who decided which projects to implement.
The Councilor for Social Policy, Education and Youth, Sharín González, added that talking about children's mental health is not a taboo, but our shared responsibility. The campaign aims to make this topic open so that families, schools and all citizens understand how important it is to listen, observe and communicate with children.
The representative of the Department of Open Government, Purificación Dávila, emphasized that this campaign shows how valuable an open government that works for the people is. She also announced the launch of a new "Participatory Budget" competition.
The idea of the "Feel Their Emotions and Needs" campaign was proposed by an expert committee on children and families as part of the 2023-24 "Participatory Budget." It was developed with the support of the Ministry of Health of the Canary Islands.
The campaign will run from October 16 to November 23, with special attention being paid to November 20 – Universal Children's Day. As part of the campaign, videos will be shown, radio advertisements will be broadcast, and billboards will be placed in various parts of the city to reach as many families and educational institutions as possible.
