Chilean artist Gabriel Tondreau's "Pareidolia Trash" exhibition, transforming everyday items into modern art, opens this Thursday at 6:00 p.m. at the Museum of Fine Arts in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council's culture department, the Autonomous Organization of Culture (OAC), is opening the "Pareidolia Trash" exhibition this Thursday at 6:00 p.m. The show, by Chilean artist Gabriel Tondreau, will be held in the Tarquis Robayna Room of the Museum of Fine Arts.

This exhibition is part of a city initiative to support and highlight modern art. It runs until March 1st and will feature two guided tours: on February 7th at 12:00 p.m. and February 26th at 7:00 p.m.

According to Mayor José Manuel Bermúdez, "This exhibition once again makes the Museum of Fine Arts a place for modern art and critical ideas. It reinforces the City Council's dedication to artists and to offering a varied, contemporary cultural program that connects with the public."

Santiago Díaz Mejías, the Councillor for Culture, added that "these exhibition projects are vital for bringing cultural spaces to life and showcasing works with strong ideas and visuals. Pareidolia Trash is a great example, encouraging viewers to see everyday and seemingly discarded items in a new light."

"Pareidolia Trash" brings together new works created between 2018 and 2025, including paintings, installations, digital art, and texts. The title refers to pareidolia, a psychological phenomenon where our brains see familiar shapes in random patterns. It combines this with the idea of "trash" as a metaphor. Tondreau uses fragments, leftovers, and traces from different realities, transforming them into fresh visual stories.

In his art, Gabriel Tondreau explores themes like identity, belonging, resilience, and transformation.
