In Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the tourist navigation system, first installed in 2018, will be updated. The City Council plans to invest €290,000 in this project. The money will be allocated from European funds as part of the recovery and development plan. The works will last from December to February.
What will change? The information on the signs will be updated, new places of interest will be added, and the signs themselves will be made of more durable materials. It will also be possible to learn more about the city online, for example, using QR codes.
The mayor of the city, José Manuel Bermúdez, says that the main goal is to make it even better for tourists, to make it easier for them to navigate the city, walk the streets and enjoy their holidays.
Strategic Planning Councilor Carlos Tarife added that this is not just a replacement of old signs. They want to use new technologies to make it more interesting for tourists.
They plan to update information stands, signs and plaques that are outdated or damaged, and to install new ones in places where they do not yet exist.
Señalizaciones Villar will carry out these works for six months. They will dismantle old structures, repair them, clean them and reinstall them.
The General Director of the Development Society, Carmen Pérez, noted that thanks to the updated navigation, it will be more convenient for tourists and locals. They also plan to add information about shops and restaurants.
