Streets in Santa Cruz to be closed due to "Car-Free Day" and film shooting

Attention, drivers! There will be changes in traffic in Santa Cruz.

On Sunday, due to "Car-Free Day" on Avenida Anaga, the streets will be closed and parking will be prohibited there from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

Also, on Monday, filming for "Under the Volcano 2" will take place on Calle Calvo Sotelo from 4:00 PM to 8:00 AM on Tuesday. Parking will also be prohibited there, and only residents with garages will be able to pass through.

More about "Car-Free Day":

On Sunday, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, the following will be closed:

• Avenida Marítima (from the Hacienda junction to the Vía Litoral tunnel).
• Avenida Francisco la Roche (Avenida Anaga) – from Avenida Marítima/Vía Litoral tunnel to Rambla de Santa Cruz.

For safety, protective bollards will be raised on Avenida Anaga.

What will be interesting on "Car-Free Day":

• Zone 1: Between buildings No. 33 and No. 37 on Avenida Anaga – training in cycling, rollerblading, and scooter skills. There will be a track, pump track, and other areas for children.
• Zone 2: Near building No. 33 – activities from the Island Tennis Federation (2-3 courts).
• Zone 3: Patinodrome (between buildings No. 24 and No. 32).
• Zone 4: Multi-sports zone (between the tunnel exit and building No. 23).

In connection with this:

• The Vía Litoral tunnel will be closed.
• It will not be possible to turn right from Rambla de Santa Cruz and from Calle República de Honduras onto Avenida Francisco La Roche (Anaga).
• From 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM, all parking spaces on Avenida Anaga (between the exit from the Vía Litoral tunnel and Calle República de Honduras) will be canceled.

How to get around:

• In the direction of San Andrés: via Avenida Marítima, Avenida San Sebastián, Bravo Murillo, Plaza de España, and La Marina. Or via the inner road of Muelle, Ramblas, Reyes Católicos, Avenida de la Asunción, and Rambla de Santa Cruz.
• In the southern direction: via Ramblas, Avenida de la Asunción, and Reyes Católicos.

Filming of "Under the Volcano 2":

On Monday, from 7:00 PM to 4:00 AM on Tuesday, Calle Calvo Sotelo (near the Enroque pub, No. 5), between Calle Santiago Cuadrado and Rambla de Santa Cruz, will be closed. Cars will be directed to adjacent streets (Fernando Primo de Rivera or De Los Sueños).

Also, Calle Emilio Calzadilla, between Plaza del Patriotismo (Calle Suárez Guerra and San Juan Bautista), will be closed. This will last a maximum of 2 hours (at night), from 10:00 PM to 12:00 AM.

Where parking will be prohibited due to filming:

• Calle Calvo Sotelo (between Calle Santiago Cuadrado and Rambla de Santa Cruz) – from 4:00 PM on Monday to 8:00 AM on Tuesday.
• Calle Ricardo Castello Gómez (near Plaza de Toros and the Municipal Depot) – from 4:00 PM on Monday to 8:00 AM on Tuesday.
• Calle Puerto Escondido (between Calle Suárez Guerra and San Clemente) – from 4:00 PM on Monday to 7:00 AM on Tuesday.
• Calle San Clemente (between Calle El Pilar and Santa Rosalía) – from 6:00 PM on Tuesday to 7:00 AM on Wednesday.

The City Council asks drivers to pay attention to the signs and plan their routes in advance.
