Santa Cruz de Tenerife has upgraded its "SC Mejora" digital platform, enabling residents to report urban maintenance issues and access municipal services more efficiently through a streamlined mobile interface.

Santa Cruz de Tenerife has upgraded its SC Mejora platform, marking a major step forward in the city’s digital management. According to the City Council, the tool is designed to make communication between residents and public services faster and more efficient. This move follows a national trend of Spanish cities adopting "smart city" technology to handle issues like broken street furniture and road maintenance more effectively.

Since its launch in late March, the new interface has already processed over 2,200 reports. With more than 3,500 registered users, the platform is primarily used to flag concerns regarding urban cleanliness, road conditions, waste management, and signage. The system allows residents to submit reports—complete with photos and location data—that go directly to one of 34 contracted service companies. This bypasses the traditional 010 telephone service, significantly cutting down on administrative wait times.

The app is proving popular with locals, who make up 88% of its active users. With an average of 3,300 daily visits and roughly 300 new sign-ups each day, the platform has become a key indicator of city activity. Available on both Android and iOS, the app allows users to track their reports from the initial submission through to final resolution.

Beyond reporting maintenance issues, the app offers several public services, including real-time parking updates for Las Teresitas beach, pharmacy locations, and waste container maps. Mayor José Manuel Bermúdez noted the platform's effectiveness in solving everyday problems, while Public Services head Carlos Tarife highlighted that the modernization helps the city respond more quickly to emergencies, including weather-related incidents.

Looking ahead, the City Council plans to add more features to the app. Upcoming updates include interactive maps showing sports facilities, playgrounds, outdoor gyms, electric vehicle charging stations, and traffic cameras, turning the platform into a comprehensive hub for all municipal information.
