Santa Cruz de Tenerife will host the women’s Superliga 1 volleyball promotion playoffs at the Quico Cabrera pavilion from April 23 to 26, featuring three local teams competing for a spot in Spain’s top division.

Santa Cruz de Tenerife is set to become the heart of national volleyball this April. The Quico Cabrera pavilion will host the women’s Superliga 1 promotion playoffs from April 23 to 26. This event highlights the city’s growing reputation as a hub for high-level sports, a key part of the local council’s plan to boost the economy and community through physical activity.

The tournament will have a strong local presence. Alongside the host club, Santa Cruz Cuesta Piedra, two other island teams—Élite Vóley El Rosario and Fedes Ascensores La Laguna—will compete. For Cuesta Piedra, playing on home turf is a major opportunity to secure a spot in Spain’s top volleyball division.

Mayor José Manuel Bermúdez views the Spanish Volleyball Federation’s choice as a vote of confidence in the city’s sports facilities. Alicia Cebrián, the Councilor for Sports, added that the Quico Cabrera pavilion was selected because it meets the high technical standards required for the sport, which has seen a surge in popularity across the municipality.

Beyond the competition, the four-day event is expected to bring a wave of visitors and fans to the area, providing a welcome boost to local businesses. The City Council hopes that hosting this tournament will not only raise the profile of women’s sports but also provide the home-crowd support needed to help Tenerife’s teams reach the next level.
