Santa Cruz de Tenerife to Host Inaugural 'Mojitos Vacilón Fest' This Saturday

Santa Cruz de Tenerife is set to host a vibrant celebration of the historical and cultural links between the Canary Islands and the Caribbean. This Saturday, September 12, the Alameda del Duque de Santa Elena will transform into a tropical hub for the first "Mojitos Vacilón Fest," bringing a summer atmosphere to the heart of the city.

The event is free to attend and runs from noon until 11:00 p.m. Organizers expect between 3,500 and 5,000 visitors, reflecting a growing effort by the private sector to boost the city center’s social and commercial life. Similar themed events are becoming increasingly popular across the Canary Islands as a way to bring the community together and support local businesses.

The festival’s entertainment highlights a shared musical heritage. The band Calle Obispo will headline the musical performances, while choreographer Aradance will host Cuban dance sessions. DJ Sistah Vibes will also perform, and the popular El Caracol kiosk from Las Teresitas beach will be on-site to serve refreshments. The event will also feature space for spontaneous performances and local cultural groups.

In addition to the music, attendees can enjoy a wide variety of food from local vendors, including Restaurante Manglar, Caña y Ron, Punto en Boca, Doggys Street Food, Americo Truck, Ceviboom, and Lucky Helado. The festival also includes a dedicated children’s area and a market showcasing local crafts and goods from shops like Musgo Natural Deco, Palo Santo, Alpargatas El Toscal, Sal y Lava, Ama Essentials, and Epiphany. It promises to be a full day of leisure, dining, and support for the local economy.
