Santa Cruz de Tenerife to Host Final Traditional Arts Event This Saturday

Santa Cruz de Tenerife will host the final event of its traditional arts series this Saturday, September 19. Held at the Alameda del Duque de Santa Elena, the gathering marks the conclusion of a year-long initiative organized by the city’s Autonomous Organism for Culture (OAC).

Admission is free until the venue reaches capacity. The day will highlight musical groups from the Salud-La Salle and Centro-Ifara districts, split into two sessions. The first begins at 12:00 p.m. with performances by Mayores del 2000, Farutes del Atlántico, and Bienmesabe, each playing for 45 minutes. The program resumes at 6:00 p.m. with Tajaraste, followed by a final performance from the Masa Coral Tinerfeña at 7:00 p.m.

This event concludes a project that began in April, aimed at bringing cultural events out of the city center and into all five of the municipality's districts. Mayor José Manuel Bermúdez noted the importance of using popular music to revitalize public spaces, while Culture head Santiago Díaz Mejías praised the year-round dedication of the participating groups.

By rotating these events through different areas—from Ofra-Costa Sur to Suroeste and Anaga—the city council hopes to strengthen local identity and encourage community participation. This final meeting brings to a close a season dedicated to celebrating and sharing local traditions across the entire city.
