Santa Cruz de Tenerife will host the "A Modo Canario" fair on May 29 and 30, transforming La Noria street into a hub for local producers to showcase agri-food goods from across the Canary Islands.

Santa Cruz de Tenerife is getting ready to host "A Modo Canario," an event dedicated to celebrating local produce and connecting the islands. On May 29 and 30, the iconic La Noria street will transform into a hub showcasing agri-food products from all eight Canary Islands.

This initiative is a joint effort between the Santa Cruz City Council, the regional government’s Ministry of Agriculture, and Gestión del Medio Rural (GMR). The goal is to bridge the gap between rural producers and urban consumers. It provides a vital platform for farmers and artisans from smaller islands—who often struggle to reach larger markets—to sell their wine, cheese, honey, and pastries directly to the public.

Supported by Mayor José Manuel Bermúdez and the Centro-Ifara district council, the event aims to highlight the unique identity of the archipelago. The schedule is set for Friday, May 29, from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., and Saturday, May 30, from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.

More than just a market, this "zero-kilometer" fair serves as an educational experience. By combining food stalls with craft workshops and folk performances, the event encourages people to think about where their food comes from. By hosting the fair in the historic La Noria district, the city council hopes to bring rural traditions into the heart of urban life, promoting responsible consumption and supporting local producers over mass-produced industrial goods.
