The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council has rescheduled the 2027 Carnival to February 19–28 to accommodate logistical requirements at the Trade Fair Center.

The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council has officially rescheduled the 2027 Carnival. The decision, which passed with majority support—despite an abstention from the Socialist Municipal Group—sets Carnival Tuesday for February 23 and keeps May 3, the Day of the Cross, as the city’s second local holiday.

This calendar change was necessary due to scheduling conflicts at the Trade Fair Center. The venue hosts the Children's and Youth Park (PIT) until January 6, leaving only 48 hours to set up the infrastructure for the Carnival’s opening gala. City officials determined that this timeframe was too short to meet the required safety and quality standards.

To resolve this, Mayor José Manuel Bermúdez’s administration has shifted the schedule by two weeks. The opening gala is now set for January 22, with public celebrations taking place from February 19 to 28. Javier Caraballero, head of the Department of Festivals, noted that this change provides much-needed certainty for the performers, suppliers, and logistics teams involved in the event.

Ultimately, the adjustment reflects the logistical challenges of hosting such a large-scale event. By allowing more time for setup, the city aims to ensure the Carnival remains a success while balancing the practical demands of managing the venue.
