Santa Cruz de Tenerife is preparing for the 18th edition of Plenilunio, a nature-themed cultural festival running from October 2 to 4 that features over 100 activities and a 500-drone light show to stimulate the local economy.
The capital of Tenerife is gearing up for the 18th edition of Plenilunio, which will run from October 2 to 4 with a theme inspired by nature. The event has become a key driver for the local economy, with the City Council investing over 420,000 euros to cover everything from logistics to specialized services.
This year, the council is looking to expand the event’s reach. Carmen Pérez, head of the Development Society, announced that the Ramblas will be included in the circuit for the first time to help boost local businesses in that area. The program features over 100 activities across popular spots like García Sanabria Park, Plaza de El Príncipe, Alameda del Duque, and Bulevar Park, offering a mix of family entertainment, culture, and music.
The City Council has already finalized contracts for essential services, including security, electricity, and stage assembly. A major highlight will be the opening drone show on October 2, provided by Umiles Entertainment. Costing nearly 80,000 euros, the display will feature 500 drones lighting up the sky over the Avenida Marítima and the port area.
Plenilunio is more than just a visual spectacle; it is designed to showcase the city’s heritage while encouraging people to visit local shops and restaurants. As officials put the finishing touches on the live performance schedule, the event remains a central part of the city’s strategy to use culture as a tool for economic growth and to draw more visitors into the city center.
