Santa Cruz de Tenerife Port Authority Boosts Transparency Score to 81.6%

The Santa Cruz de Tenerife Port Authority has significantly improved its transparency, reaching a compliance score of 81.6% in the latest audit by the Council for Transparency and Good Governance (CTBG). This is a major turnaround from 2021, when the authority scored just 19.5%. Over the last year alone, the organization has boosted its compliance by nearly 29 percentage points.

The CTBG, which monitors public access to information, based its assessment on how easy, organized, and up-to-date the authority’s data is. The results show varying levels of success across different departments: legal information achieved a perfect 100% score, while planning and organization reached 88.6%, and economic and budgetary information stood at 78.4%.

Port Authority President Pedro Suárez credits these gains to a focused effort to improve accountability. However, the CTBG notes that there is still work to be done. The council has encouraged the authority to provide more detailed results from its strategic plans and to improve how it reports on contracting processes to fully comply with transparency laws.

This progress reflects a broader trend in Spanish public administration, where transparency is increasingly used to build public trust. The Port Authority’s steady climb—from 33.2% in 2022 to 52.7% in 2023, and now 81.6%—shows a clear commitment to meeting modern governance standards and making its Transparency Portal a primary resource for the public.
