Santa Cruz de Tenerife Opens Registration for 2026 Summer Youth Sports Program
The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council has opened registration for its 2026 summer sports program, offering children and teenagers a diverse range of urban and coastal activities to promote public health and social integration.
Managing summer free time has become a key priority for welfare policies in the Canary Islands, with Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council expanding its public programs to meet this need. The council has announced that registration for its 2026 summer physical activity program will open on May 20, offering a variety of active leisure options for children and teenagers.
Organized by the Department of Sports and Quality of Life, the program moves beyond traditional activities by utilizing both urban and coastal settings. The range of options includes technical swimming training at the Acidalio Lorenzo Municipal Pool, as well as modern activities like breakdancing and skateboarding. The program also makes the most of the local landscape, featuring surfing camps in Taganana and multi-sport sessions at Las Teresitas beach, all aimed at encouraging social connection and the use of the city’s natural spaces.
The local government views this initiative as more than just a way to help families balance work and childcare; it is also a long-term public health strategy. Mayor José Manuel Bermúdez highlighted the program’s role in education and social integration, while department head Alicia Cebrián emphasized the goal of making sports accessible to everyone in the municipality.
To simplify the registration process, the Sports Service has centralized all information and sign-ups on the website www.santacruzentrena.es.
