The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council has officially opened the bidding process for eight new kiosks at Las Teresitas beach, aiming to normalize commercial operations through a sustainable and competitive tender.

The process to regulate services at Las Teresitas beach has reached a key stage. The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council has officially approved the bidding process for the eight kiosks at the beach, a move designed to normalize commercial operations after the previous contracts expired last February.

Javier Rivero, the Councilor for Municipal Heritage, explained that the delay was due to the complex bureaucracy involved in coordinating with the General Directorate of Coasts, which must approve any work in public coastal areas. With the tender specifications now published on the Public Sector Contracting Platform, interested parties have 30 business days to submit their proposals.

The new contracts will last for three years and eight months, with the option to extend them to four years. Each of the eight kiosks will cover 70 square meters, including space for customers, a 50-square-meter terrace, and storage. Operators will also manage beach equipment, such as sun loungers, umbrellas, and Balinese beds, across an area that will fluctuate between 5,760 and 7,680 square meters depending on the season.

The selection process prioritizes sustainability and financial stability. Of the 100 available points, 60 are based on the financial bid, with a minimum annual fee of 15,390.56 euros per kiosk. The remaining 40 points will be awarded based on environmental commitments and the use of electrical storage systems.

To ensure a variety of operators, each bidder can only win one lot, provided there are at least eight participants. The kiosks must follow a set schedule: 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. from April through September, and 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. for the rest of the year. If the new operators need to make improvements to their kiosks, they have up to four months from the handover date to complete the work.
