Santa Cruz de Tenerife is offering residents free daily rides on panoramic tourist buses until May 30th to encourage local exploration and support businesses during the May Festival celebrations.

Santa Cruz de Tenerife is encouraging locals to explore their own city by offering free rides on the popular panoramic tourist buses. Part of the May Festival celebrations, this initiative follows a successful trial over Easter, when nearly 1,100 residents—making up 40% of all passengers—took advantage of the service.

The program, a partnership between the city’s Development Society and operator City Sightseeing, runs daily until May 30th. Residents can board the bus for free starting at 4:00 PM by showing their national ID (DNI) at the main stop in Plaza de España. The route covers key landmarks, including the Auditorium, the Heliodoro Rodríguez López stadium, and García Sanabria Park.

The city council hopes the scheme will help residents rediscover their local heritage and act as ambassadors for the capital. By increasing foot traffic, the initiative also aims to support local shops and restaurants during the busy festival season. As a special highlight, passengers on May 2nd will be treated to local products to mark the traditional "Baile de Magos" celebration.

By opening up tourist transport to the public, the city aims to build a stronger sense of community and ensure that local landmarks are enjoyed by those who live there, not just visitors.
