Santa Cruz de Tenerife Launches Special Transport Plan for Weekend Events
Santa Cruz de Tenerife has launched a special public transport plan featuring flexible bus services to manage increased traffic for tonight's Sting concert and local festivities in Igueste de San Andrés.
Santa Cruz de Tenerife is preparing for a busy weekend as the city balances high demand for leisure events with the need to keep peripheral areas connected. To manage the influx of visitors, the city’s Department of Mobility and Universal Accessibility has launched a special public transport plan.
The main focus is tonight’s Sting concert at the Palmetum. To help concertgoers get home, the transport company Titsa is providing a flexible service on line 908 (Intercambiador-Ofra), which will run on demand once the show ends. This is in addition to the regular late-night services on lines 905, 906, 970, 971, 972, 974, and 975, all aimed at reducing the number of private cars on the road.
At the same time, the City Council is improving transport to Igueste de San Andrés for its local festivities. An extra bus will depart from the North Pier (stop 9167) at 10:30 p.m. this Saturday, with a return trip to the Intercambiador scheduled for 4:30 a.m. on Sunday from stop 1726.
For the Igueste route, the city is using two 7.8-meter minibuses, each seating 26 passengers. These smaller vehicles were chosen because the local access roads are too narrow for standard buses. This approach ensures the service remains safe and efficient while respecting the geographical constraints of the area.
