Santa Cruz de Tenerife Launches Sixth Edition of Local Consumer Voucher Program
The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council has launched its sixth consumer voucher program, investing 220,000 euros to stimulate local business sales through discounted shopping vouchers available starting August 4.
The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council has launched the sixth edition of its consumer voucher program, designed to boost spending at local businesses. Starting Tuesday, August 4, at 12:00 p.m., residents can purchase and redeem these vouchers through the council’s official website until November 2, 2026.
With a public investment of 220,000 euros, the initiative aims to generate 520,000 euros in local sales. The program is divided into two categories:
- Standard Vouchers: There are 16,000 vouchers available where you pay 15 euros for a 25-euro voucher—a 40% discount. Each person can buy up to four, saving a total of 40 euros on 100 euros of spending.
- Sunday Vouchers: Designed to encourage shopping on authorized holidays, these vouchers offer a 50% discount, meaning you pay 12.50 euros for a 25-euro voucher. Users can purchase up to two per Sunday, with a limit of six throughout the campaign.
These vouchers are intended to help local businesses compete with large retail chains during a time of high inflation. The program has proven successful in the past; in 2025, it saw a 98% usage rate with over 300 participating businesses. Mayor José Manuel Bermúdez and Development Society head Carmen Pérez highlighted that this funding is vital for supporting local jobs and keeping restaurants and shops stable across the city’s five districts.
To ensure security, users must provide their DNI or NIE for every transaction. The online portal acts as a central hub where residents can buy vouchers, view a list of participating shops, and track their remaining balance. Local businesses can also use the site to register and join the program.
