Santa Cruz de Tenerife Launches Major Public Transport Overhaul

Santa Cruz de Tenerife is launching a major overhaul of its public transport network this Monday. The city council is investing 482,500 euros annually into the Titsa bus service, with the goal of attracting over half a million new passengers each year.

The centerpiece of these changes is the new 915 line. Connecting the Interchanger with Camino del Hierro and La Candelaria Hospital, this route replaces a section of the 908 line to provide a more direct service. The 915 will run 19 trips daily between 6:20 a.m. and 10:30 p.m.

Other key lines are also being adjusted to improve coverage:

• Line 908: This route, which connects the Interchanger to the Ofra neighborhood, will now focus on the main El Rosario road. Service will be increased by two trips on weekdays, with night service extended until 12:15 a.m. On weekends, there will be six extra trips, with the final bus running at 1:20 a.m.
• Line 914: Following the completion of roadworks, this line will return to Calle La Rosa and extend its route to Residencial Anaga. The route now includes seven stops, five of which are new, such as the stop at San Isidro. To support sustainability, this line will be served by a fully electric vehicle, running 38 trips on weekdays and 20 on weekends.

Additionally, roadworks on Calle Lope de Vega will temporarily affect line 902. Between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., buses heading to the Interchanger will be diverted via Avenida Tres de Mayo. During these hours, the stops on Avenida San Sebastián and Calle José Hernández Alfonso will be closed, with temporary stops provided near La Salle School and the Interchanger.

These changes are part of the city’s ongoing effort to modernize the transport network and make travel more efficient for residents.
