Santa Cruz de Tenerife has contracted construction firm Tomás Gracia to execute a €619,053 renovation of Juan Marín Vives Street, marking the final phase of the "Suroeste Avanza" infrastructure project in Llano del Moro.

The urban transformation of Santa Cruz de Tenerife’s Southwest district is nearing its final stage. Following a recent agreement by the local Governing Board, the City Council has officially contracted construction firm Tomás Gracia to renovate Juan Marín Vives Street in the Llano del Moro area.

The €619,053 project marks the end of a long administrative process designed to fix a lack of basic infrastructure that has long impacted local residents and the nearby CEIP Matías Llabré Verd school.

Scheduled to take six months, the work is part of the "Suroeste Avanza" (Southwest Advances) municipal strategy. Mayor José Manuel Bermúdez stated that the project is essential for addressing long-standing structural issues, particularly regarding road safety and accessibility during heavy rain. For years, the street’s lack of proper paving and utility networks has been a significant obstacle for local mobility.

Public Works Councilor Javier Rivero explained that the project covers 1,750 square meters. The renovation will replace one of the district’s last unpaved sections with modern infrastructure, including a new road, accessible sidewalks, and updated sewage, water, drainage, lighting, and telecommunications systems. Through these improvements, the City Council aims to bring this part of Llano del Moro up to the same standard as the rest of the municipality, finally providing the essential services the area has lacked.
